Manuscript Submission Guidelines

General Manuscript Submission Guidelines

Wisdom Publications accepts unsolicited submissions from authors and agents but only on topics directly related to Buddhism. Authors should have relevant professional, academic, or Dharma-teaching credentials.

Please email the following in a single electronic file to editors [at] wisdompubs [dot] org.

  • A one-page description of the project.
  • A brief description of your qualifications.
  • A provisional table of contents with brief chapter summaries.
  • At least two sample chapters. Submitting your entire manuscript is also acceptable.
  • Any endorsements you may have from people of stature in a related field.
  • A list of platforms or audiences you have access to. These may include students at religious or educational institutions, readers of your writing, or social media followers.
  • A list of comparable titles and target audiences.
  • Your complete contact information.

If your submission for whatever reason needs to be made via the post, please email our editorial department through our contact page for instructions. And be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like your materials returned.

Wisdom Publications use the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition, as its house style guide and the American Heritage Dictionary for default spellings. Our preferred formatting and many style issues particular to Buddhist publishing are addressed in our Style Guide for Works on Indian and Tibetan Buddhism.
